The SCOTUS Chronicles

The justices turned away his appeal of the Connecticut Appellate Court's decision in a defamation lawsuit against him to uphold most of the judgment issued by a judge and jury in 2022 to 14 family members of children and school employees who were killed and an FBI agent who responded to the shooting. In doing so, the top U.S. judicial body left the judgment in place.

Jones had his three minutes of publicly sucking Trump's mushroom, and like was others found useless, discarded as necessary. It reminds me of Petain's remark in 1940 after meeting with Hitler and not joining into the Axis war: "I am just a lemon. They will squeeze all the juice out of me and then throw me away."

Only Alex Jones was and is too fucking stupid to understand that.

I know he must have overseas accounts and stashes and won't hit any rock-bottom, but is there anyone here who wouldn't love to be handing Alex a ten-dollar bill at the counter in the Habit? Good food and schadenfreude for a sawbuck, where do I sign up?

Quote:WASHINGTON (AP) — A call to overturn the landmark Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide is on the agenda Friday for the justices’ closed-door conference.

Among the new cases the justices are expected to consider is a longshot appeal from Kim Davis, the former Kentucky court clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples following the court’s 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges.

Davis had been trying to get the court to overturn a lower court order for her to pay $360,000 in damages and attorney’s fees to a couple whom she denied a marriage license.

The justices could say as early as Monday what they’ll do.

In urging the court to take up her case, Davis’ lawyers repeatedly invoked the words of Justice Clarence Thomas, who alone among the nine justices has called for erasing the same-sex marriage ruling.

Thomas was one of four dissenting justices in 2015. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito are the other dissenters who also remain on the court.

Roberts has been silent on the subject since he wrote a dissenting opinion in the case. Alito has continued to criticize the decision, but said recently he was not advocating that it be overturned.

Much as I agree with your view, it's the even more unhinged justices that are worrisome to me. The Roberts Court has never found a personal right it has not wanted to chainsaw ... except for gun ownership.

A fair point. If they could deny gun-ownership to the unfavored minorities without scaring the base, they'd do it. They just don't want to have to eat their own words.
