Tempus, I do like TheAmazingAtheist - I think his videos are great, but I have gone off Thunderf00t and I've never really watched Pat Condell.
I've gotta say though that it was Thunderf00t who actually made me come off the fence, with his creationist videos.
You should try Coughlan616, he is quite hilarious. You know, the guy Thunderf00t diagnosed online as mentally unstable.

I'm familiar with Coughlan616, I'm subbed to him. Part of the reason I stopped watching TheAmazingAtheist recently was because of the rape related comments he made on Reddit. I won't pretend I'm morally outraged by them because I'm not, however, it was a very stupid thing to say. I realise he acknowledged this, but it's just not some slip of the tongue easily made. I mean, I fail to see how anyone moderately intelligent could get into a debate (or a fight, rather) on the internet and become so uncontrollably angry that they lose it and say something as ridiculous as he said. Not to mention that his videos tend to be just as much about insulting his opponents as responding to their arguments. Again, I'm certainly not offended by this and I'm not saying it isn't sometimes funny, but I really just have better sources of comedy (Peep Show at the moment ) and logical arguments than him.

Don't worry. When I first found Peep Show I don't think I had any other sources of comedy. I mean, everything just became bland compared to that
I know what you mean about his outburst and it has turned a lot of people off, but I do like him and his videos. He did, like you said, acknowledge that it was stupid. But it wasn't his normal self.

I didn't hear of The Amazing Atheist's outburst on reddit, but I've just googled it and it seems that PZ Myers and some other feminazi bloggers have commented on it, so chances are it was blown entirely out of proportion. In any case, I don't subscribe to TJ since I find his videos boring.

Well in this case PZ and the feminists really had a good reason to be up in arms about it.

I don't think this is a nice thing to say to a rape victim:
“I think we should give the guy who raped you a medal. I hope you fucking drown in rape semen, you ugly, mean-spirited cow.”

“BTW, you have to admit, when I told you that I hope you drown in rape semen, you got a little wet, didn’t you? It’s okay. We’re friends now. You can share.”

This is what he actually wrote when the person he was having a discussion with told him she had been raped. Now I am all for free speech, and that means that in my opinion TJ is a mean spirited asshole as well and PZ and TAE were right to call him out on his bullshit.

British humour is the best. I can't stand all the American shows we get on our TV here... Then again, I can't really remember the last time I turned a TV on, haha.

In regards to TJ's (TheAmazingAtheist) rape comments - again, I'm not particularly outraged. Really if you post something like 'I got raped' in a public forum you should expect the worst (well, maybe not if it's a rape support forum!). It's a stupid thing to do. Still, such comments as TJ's aren't justified and, in my eyes, just as importantly get us nowhere in a debate. Of course, given he was debating feminists it's arguable he was getting nowhere long before that.

My central problem with TJ is that half of his arguments are vacuous insults. It was kind of funny initially but it gets boring and predictable and I'm learning nothing from it.

However, I find the following comments by The Atheist Experience equally shameful:

1) The Men's Rights subreddit is not misogynistic, it's about men's rights. I dare anyone to find a single link in that subreddit that is misogynistic (i.e. espouses the view that people should hate all women).

2) The subreddit "Shit Reddit Says" on the other hand has the following description:

"Have you recently read an upvoted Reddit comment that was bigoted, creepy, misogynistic, transphobic, unsettling, racist, homophobic, and/or just reeking of unexamined, toxic privilege? Of course you have! Post it here."

Notice the severe lack of the word "misandrist". Why? Because the "Shit Reddit Says" subreddit is run by a bunch of feminists who either don't believe that misandry is even possible, or that it simply doesn't matter.

It's a man's world they figure, so who cares about being objective in passing judgement?

And they call it 'misogynistic' because of the content, which does sometimes involve stereotypes of both men and women which are hateful toward such.

However, I disagree with their assessment as I believe their definition of 'misogyny' has such a low barrier to entry that the term loses meaning for real serious cases. And I never liked their first premise.

1) I never said it excused TJ's actions.

2) My initial comment about blowing it out of proportion was with zero knowledge of what TJ had said; I was only going on past experience. Generally speaking, when PZ Myers gets pissed about something a guy said, it's blown completely out of proportion. This just happens to be one of the times where he was right.

3) That said, it doesn't give them the excuse to make up shit about other people.

Seems rather odd that there's "Men's Rights" and "Women's Rights". Human rights is what we ought to be worried about. Maybe even sentience rights. The moderate feminists are basically humanists in all but name. The extreme ones are the perfect example of the once oppressed attempting to become the oppressors. Except most today weren't even alive when women (in the West) actually did have it tough. The reason they're able to act like such a bunch of cunts is because they have equal rights to their misogynistic counterparts. And I mean actual misogynists, not any man that happens to disagree with them

Of course women don't have it perfect today (far from it), but neither do men. Both women's and men's rights should be looked at under the umbrella of human rights rather than two separate ideologies at war which is what the (extreme) feminist mindset seems to be.
