That is all.

Are they? Here, seperatists are doing just that while politicians argue for a "peaceful resolution".

That's a long time ago. Back then, there probably was some kind of an independent scottish country.

I find it curious that a nationalist such as yourself is somehow taking objection to the thought of Scottish independance. Or are you?

Scotland probably has more of a national identity nowadays than it did hundreds of years ago buddy.

It was a tribal(clans) country, like Ireland was and like Arab lands still are.

I'm not defending Scotland. I'm neutral on the issue, actually, even though I know that England has not been the greatest friend of the Turk for some time, I'd rather not pick a side.

And well, it's not just the issue of *identity*. They must have had some sort of a seperate political existence from England.
The trouble with the most Celtic people in Britain and Ireland is that they have also undergone cultural assimilation to some degree, yet they still did not give up their identity. Most Irishmen, and I think most Scotsmen are not proficient in their native language. Yet they still refuse to give up their identity and take up the identity of the English.

I see this as a great argument for my point of view, to be honest. Language is one of the prime requirements to build a nation, yet the celts can do without it just well.

Isn't a person by the name of Napoleon suppose to cheer the departure of parts of United Kingdom? Did you spend considerable time, armament, men and treasure on several occassions encoruageing Irish independence and british confusion?
