One of the (many) reasons that I despise some of the modern pop-culture associated with the dross such as Pop Idol / X-Factor and every other manufactured karaoke-style shite that is excreted to the masses... is the lack of a message/idea/thought process that goes into it.

Here are some examples of music that actually have a message. Feel free to share your own.

Actually, when picking out some examples, I could provide the entire album Mindbomb by The The. Possibly a "new thing" for some of you youngsters, as it was released back in 1989.

I love this overture. Anything played by Berlin and conducted by Simon Rattle is bound to be good. I have played this overture before in an amateur orchestra. I love it because it's got a lot of solo parts for the clarinet and it's actually quite easy to play. There are difficult parts in the other parts of the opera but this part is easy. Wenzel Fuchs (lead clarinettist) is brilliant but he refuses to be my friend on Facebook. I should change my profile pic so I don't appear in it but just my clarinet. Then he might think I'm some older clarinet player in LSO.
