What are lamb chops but small steaks?

I suppose you're going to speaking out against pork chops next, you foul blasphemer.

Well 'small' isn't gonna win me over. I like BIG steaks.

And I love pork chops. I'd turn down a mountain of them for a perfectly cooked steak though.

Well, then you're in luck, because the absolute best lamb chops come from the rack, and it's customary to serve several per diner. Picture a plateful of miniature ribeyes, only they're lamb instead of beef.

I think I just gave myself an erection.

Man, that would be a tough decision for me. Pig is so delicious, and the fact that two of the three major religions prohibit it's consumption tells me that it's what's for dinner.

Fuck, I am so hungry.

You think this thread is bad when you're hungry?

Try seeing that beautiful pic of steak and reading this thread when you had a shitty microwave burger for your dinner! [Image: th_Smiley-Crying.gif]

I know but I didn't really have much else in the way of options. It's not like I turned down caviar to have it.

I can feel your pain, man (says the girl who sits at a bowl of cheap ass ramen with frozen vegetables) Sad
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I believe that it is subjective. It is perhaps nearly universal amongst humans, however, consider this - would the moral objections to murder and rape exist if there were no humans on Earth?

I don't think so. I'm not sure how that then makes it purely subjective. Nor am I now sure why it matters if it is subjective. If you agree upon a certain standard (such as "do unto others as you would them do unto you") then under that standard you can decide upon moral obligations that are consistent with that standard. Maybe morality is ultimately subjective (a matter I haven't really studied yet). What matters here however is if whether one is acting consistently with the standard. Of course, you might say that acting consistently with a standard is in itself a subjective value (if all moral values are subjective).

If we can both agree upon a certain basic moral standard and that acting consistently with that standard is good, then we can decide if whether killing animals for eating is good or bad.

My point is that I haven't really seen in this thread a justification for killing animals that is consistent with the value "of do unto others etc." which is a value almost all the atheists I've met affirm.

Shut the fuck up, Mr. Morality. Welcome to the animal kingdom, survival of the fittest. If those cows had thumbs, we'd be on their dinner plate.
