That would make us older then the earth, so nope. Tongue

On a serious note though, as I said, I don't make assumptions. I'm no scientist. However, I'd rather take the word of scientists then of a book that talks about unicorns and fire breathing serpents.

No one asked anything about assumptions. Could you possibly answer the actual question being asked?

"Do you believe the universe is 13.7 billion years old?"

If yes, then we can continue. If no, then can you provide reasons for why you don't believe the universe is 13.7 billion years old?

I guess Retorth could be "Uncertain", but then deep down I would think it would have to be a yes or no answer. Beliefs are either/or.

Indeed. One does not need to be 'certain' about some belief. Most beliefs, I suspect, are tentative.

RE: Christians
I have said this many times before, I do not make assumptions. I do not just blindly believe in claims and statements made irregardless of who makes them. There are millions of statements made every day. You are asking me if I believe a statement about the age of the universe and I have been answering your question. I believe the scientists who announce that fact must have the necessary data to back up a statement of such magnitude.

All you want is a simple "yes" or "no" but it is not as simple as that. If you cannot accept my answer, there is nothing I can do about it. This is what I feel and if you cannot respect that, I have nothing else to say about the matter.

  1. Heaven is a real place you go to when you die.
  2. In order to get there you must be a Christian.
  3. If yes to the above, how could you enjoy heaven knowing that many good and kind people, perhaps friends and family are in hell?

Im guessing this thread may have gone beyond the original question, but Ill answer anyway.

1) I believe in heaven
2) I think you must follow Christ to the best of your ability (ie: You can blame people who havn't heard of Him, etc)
3) I dont know how it going to work out.

Am I right to say you are searching for answers? Smile
