The effectiveness of prayer has a trivial relationship to your particular god, the Bible has been edited to the extent that the historical Jesus is unknowable, Christianity has parallels to older Pagan religions and cults, morality isn't dependent on your genocidal god... good luck on converting us.

Welcome; the good thing about this forum is that you will be provided with a greater freedom of expression than afforded on other religious rooted forums. Do not take any of the offensive remarks personally, some poster will make them as a response to what you say which is reasonable whereas the fact you say you are a Christian will result in only insult from others as a default without regard to what you say. I would also strongly suggest that you pray a good deal to strengthen your faith if you choose to stay on the forum and remember that we convert no one the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit does. It is easy to spend a long time on this forum at the expense of other areas for growth and it can be usefull but I suggest you spend more time on good Christian Apologetic sites even ones not directly your own denomination so you can be better prepared as many on this forum have spent much longer reasearching the arguements you will encounter than ever you could have. But good luck and may God bless your endeavors and protect and guide you. Also at your age you will need a spiritual guide you can trust to help keep you grounded so please find one.
