I have a cousin on my father's side who's literally been raised as a creationist. In an attempt to persuade me that their view was correct, he actually suggested that the reason that some fossils were lower in the geological record than others was because these were the slow-moving animals that couldn't move fast enough to escape the rising waters of Noah's flood. After I pointed out to him that all of the early fossils were marine animals who wouldn't have a problem with rising waters, he just pretended not to read that particular section of my reply.

It just scares me how far some Christians will stray from rationality just to defend their beliefs.
