The greatest glory for the smallest child

Oh yeah, thats right, I remember, you learned about Christianity at a church that interpreted John 7 in light of liberal beliefs about being nice to people, instead of in context of the rest of what he says.

Of course you wouldn't know about what real humility is because you have never been to a real church.

So says the guy who has conversations with invisible friends.

Blow me, Strodel.

Then again, he was god, so he could afford to be a hypocrite. The best part is that in verse 48 he tells his listeners that they "must be perfect, as your heavenly father is perfect." But he gives them an example that they can't follow without risking hellfire. Which is kind of funny, when you think of it.

Jesus might be an asshole, but he's my kinda asshole!

The contradiction happens in the simplistic mind of the literalistic, not in the minds of the serious student of the Bible.

Bad things versus good things: the greatest good for the greatest number rewards all actions equally, so there is equal rewards for different levels of goodness, people are not rewarded for doing good, the differences are erased.
Remember when I said there were problems with the theory? (Although, this wasn't even the one I was thinking of, it is a legitimate point)
And...didn't Jesus say something about loving everyone as yourself?

I think Hitler Stalin would also have met this criteria, at that age. Wouldn't it make more sense to gauge the rate of good/bad things done, rather than the overall? (and give a little leeway to small children and the mentally infirm)

True, the person who takes Jesus' words at face value is going to come to a very different conclusion from the person who performs various types of mental gymnastics in order to force them to mean something other than what they actually mean. But yeah, it's the former who is being dishonest. Heh...
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Quote:1 Corinthians 15:36
Thou fool.

Galatians 3:1
O foolish Galatians.

Maybe my copy of The King James is different from yours, but two of your examples don't seem to be in red lettering? I believe it was the misogynistic woman hater that you were quoting there a couple times. Maybe you already knew that. I dunno. Somehow, I get the impression after reading several of your posts that you relate more to Paul, and probably lend more weight to his writings than you do what Christ was supposed to have said. Just my impression. Carry on.

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

That would be discrimination based on age, not race. The term is ageism.
