I think if the police are going to arrest you and put you in a cell for any length of time, they should certainly be required to ask if you are on any form of medication. I'm not necessarily saying it should be an officer, but someone who works at the police department where the suspect is held.

Agreed. However, we're not sure what happened to this guy. I'm not exactly prone to trust someone who admits to posting death threats and then acts as if he is the victim. Not once in that entire thing did he say he was sorry for having done it or that he was wrong.

They do, my wife was a nurse in the detention center here, they would ask the prisoners and call their doctors to find out exactly what if any meds they were taking. This does take time, first the doctors have to respond to the detention center this must then be processed before drugs can be administered. You would not believe how many prisoners think they are going to fool the system to get drugs they are not on. The criminals make it hard on their fellow criminals by trying to use the system. Most prisoners care little for them selves or others.

Although I would note something: Don't threaten to kill people over facebook. I know you might be coping with mental issues but seriously how can you play the victim here. I threatened to kill my girlfriend and now bad things are happening to me. Well no shit.

Law enforcement are dicks because they have no consequences. Basically the police can do almost anything with very little consequences even shoot people. The whole system is rigged in their favor. Considering that it's a low skill, low pay job what you get are a bunch of uneducated people who want to bully others. I've been to around 20 countries in this Hemisphere and the police are almost universally the same everywhere, some places they can just get away with more.

Why charge him immediately? They literally stopped him from ending his own life, and then proceed to poor gasoline on the fire by making his life even more unbearable, all for leaving a pot pipe out as he lay dying. I'm not asking for a free pass on crimes for the mentally ill, just some compassion and understanding.

Why not? If they are going to charge him for the pot, they should do it the same way in every scenario. Fair is fair. That's how the law should work. Emotion shouldn't dictate how laws are enforced. They didn't make his life unbearable, by the way; he did.

What this means of course is that prior to 2000 and for 3 years after notice the City of Philadelphia did NOT provide medical care to diabetics who were in their custody and had to be sued in order to get them to do it.

Among examples cited are an inmate whose pleas for help were ignored for two years while cancer swelled his liver to four times its normal size and then killed him; a four-months pregnant woman who was told her problems were "all in your head" and was left alone in a cell while she miscarried; at least two examples of inmate suicides that poorly trained staff failed to prevent; an inmate punished for using CPR to save another inmate after a heart attack while corrections officers refused to summon medical help; and many examples of prisoners waiting months and even years for treatment of fractured bones, broken teeth and other medical issues.
