Oh darn!
One more for Darkstar, who always keeps his cool and is smart and sensible.
And another one for Apophenia for that brilliant mind of hers.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Fallen to Reason, you are great because you have original and interesting ideas.
Whateverist, you are great because your contributions are measured and thoughtful.
Genkaus, you are great because you make an excellent sparing partner.
Godschild and Drich, you are both great because you ground your faith in scripture.
Faith No More, you are great because you seem to always narrow in on the important point.

It would be much easier to simply list the people on here that I think aren't great rather than try to list everyone that is, however, since momma said not to say anything if you can't say something nice, I'll let everyone's imaginations do the work for me.

Thanks for telling me I am great. I already knew it but it is nice to have outside confirmation from time to time.

Could your brown-nosing of senior members be any more blatant? The amount of theatrical public compliments you pay to well established members is rather uncanny.

*Tsk tsk*

I'm sorry, but it all just comes across as contrived and overbearing to me, and I am (relatively) politely stating my opinion on the matter. I feel that it would be much more appropriate to pay such compliments privately. This way, other people would not feel left out, not that I give a shit, but thinking of the group as a whole (except catfish ). Also, I know that I would be rather wary and uncomfortable if somebody I met online was being overbearingly friendly and complimentary for no apparent reason. Call it rational skepticism.

If you don't like it, then the solution is simple: don't participate in the thread.

Right, because we wouldn't want anyone to know that we actually appreciate some of the people on this board.
I got over feeling left out in the 3rd grade. I think most of us around here are adult enough to understand the simple (and quite wonderful) idea behind this thread.
and yeah, we are really nice to the people on the forum that we mention because once we gain their confidence through baseless praise and overt ass-kissing, we can get all of their private information, steal their identities and live a life of pure luxury on their dime.
Are you for real love? If you don't like it and can't stay in the great spirit of the thread, then kindly GTFO.

I'm not just referring to this thread; the compliments to which I was referring are randomly present in other threads, too.

Perhaps I am too much of a skeptic. Like a lot of other people, I am suspicious of individuals who go out of their way to be excessively friendly, complimentary and familiar to people who they barely know. It just comes across to me as contrived and calculated, in an effort to gain acceptance from the senior members.

I am well within my rights to reply in an open thread; no rules have been broken and I have been courteous in my responses.
