Speaking in tongues?

You know, the strange thing that very few people seem to take into account about speaking in tongues is that the apparent basis of this comes from the story that the apostles were able to preach to people in their own native languages, simultaneously translating their words into every tongue known to the Jewish culture two millennia ago. And yet, we never see anything of the sort occurring at pentecostal churches, just them babbling incoherently.

Actually it was an addition to "mark" in verses 16 9-20 that some scribe tacked-on centuries later to improve the ending that this snake-handling and talking in tongues stupidity was added.

At least the snakes knock off a few of the stupider ones every year. That's a plus.

There are more than one kind of speaking in tongues. Babbling incoherently like a baby is a form of worship. I've never heard any other sort of tongues at a Pentecostal meeting, despite claims to the contrary.

Then it was not a true Pentecostal congregation. In my youth, when I was religious, I attended a Pentecostal church and I heard the babble a few times.

If someone without any prior knowledge of, say, Aramaic, suddenly in the middle of a congregation just out of nowhere started speaking perfect Aramaic and in a voice not their own, THEN I'd say there's something to it.

The fact that these indoctrinated idiots say there's something to it WITHOUT that more stringent requirement betrays them for their gullibility. Along with many other things, of course.

It is clearly understood that speaking in tongues has nothing to do with language. It is babble.
