Good job for avoiding the god bots. I hope you are careful though, because I remember reading up that children raised with not religious beliefs are most susceptible to ridiculous things like Pyramid Power or crystal healing.
For those raised with religion, I suspect that close association with bullshit teaches you how to recognize it in others.

I think the justification for that claim is that religion clearly states the mandatory denial of every other form of believe or creed - be it crystals, astrology, or even other religions.

But there is no risk to falling into that pit for me, I guess. If parents don't teach children not to be skeptical and/or curious about things, it is awesome how much they might end up being.

I don't think you answered, refuted or discussed my point about the people at all. You went straight for the process of the system and not even attempted to dig into the psychology behind it. Process is one thing. Why and how people react to it is another.

Yeah, I agree.

I really neglected the psychological impact of the religious (or any other sort) of belief in human behavior and oversimplified the way things work.

But, on that matter I guess that the effect of studying religion should give you a similar familiarity/filter for bullshit, shouldn't it?
