To be honest with you, I didn't feel like a slave when FEMA helped save the lives of members of my family who were living in Long Beach (NY) during Hurricane Sandy. And I certainly didn't feel like a slave when FEMA dispatched a dozen or so workers to help me and others search and rescue other people around Long Beach and provide food and water to them.

In fact, they were a huge-ass help. Didn't really feel like they were slave masters to me. Unpopular opinion, I guess?

You, like most anarchists, are living in a fantasty word.

What have your feelings got to do with logic? Isn't that what religious people say? 'God makes me feel good so it is true'. 'Government makes me feel good so it is true'.

Also you provided no reason or evidence for your claim... so you may as well be talking to yourself right now.

....what? It's not an example of purely my feelings. It's an example of how useful and helpful the government can be. What's with the religion comparison?

Also, what was my claim and what evidence do I need to provide?

So, you're saying that you don't believe government exists?
If so, how could it be irrational?

Anecdotal evidence does not hold up in a debate.

The word 'Government' is a wrong word. As the 'government' is simply a monopoly on violence, that is what it is. I won't willingly use the wrong word for something.

Seriously? You're going to tell me that the word that you used is a wrong word and then try to tell me that you won't willingly use the wrong word?

No wonder this entire thread is in discourse when you refuse to even use the dictionary definition of government. You can't simply redefine the word 'government'. Please prove that the government is only a monopoly on violence and does nothing else, and use evidence. Whether or not the government is a gathering of volunteers(with tax from the society) to protect a society, it is still a government.

One cannot simply redefine a word for their own means and expect to get away with it.

From dictionary.com:

gov·ern·ment (gvrn-mnt)
n.
1. The act or process of governing, especially the control and administration of public policy in a political unit.
2. The office, function, or authority of a governing individual or body.
3. Exercise of authority in a political unit; rule.
4. The agency or apparatus through which a governing individual or body functions and exercises authority.
5. A governing body or organization, as:
a. The ruling political party or coalition of political parties in a parliamentary system.
b. The cabinet in a parliamentary system.
c. The persons who make up a governing body.
6. A system or policy by which a political unit is governed.
7. Administration or management of an organization, business, or institution.
8. Political science.
9. Grammar The influence of a word over the morphological inflection of another word in a phrase or sentence.

If you use number 7, something like this is always going to end up forming in a society. In most countries of the world, you are not required to submit to the government. If you don't pay taxes the government will no longer protect you or your property and possibly evict you. Simple as that. Democratic government is a means for a society to protect itself based on rules made by the people, in it's basic form. If you see something wrong with this basis, then please by all means back up your arguments with something. Without a government, then there would be no protection, and if you wish, you can choose to live in this world. You would have to rely on one of your neighbors to be willing to help(and be a doctor, military professional, and have access to all the resources necessary). Good luck with that.

Hey Koolay, is that you in the photo? You look like the kind of businessman that has a vested interest in selling people an ideology so that you can fuck them in ass and take off with the money.

Maybe you want us to hate government because they are a competitor in your ball game? Thinking
