I like the true football™, not that American rugby, at an amateur level. I hate that all the money and time spent on entertaining the masses on pro sports. Is the money spent on players, along with those absurd wages really deserved? What contribution do they give to society? IMO a guy that cleans the sewage or grabs the trash does more for the common good than those jocks. Yet they all praise god for a goal or a touchdown. Ironic, to say the least.

I love watching Europeans get angry over the name of a sport. I spent a weekend in London about a decade ago, and I was wearing a NYG jersey, and some guy went off on me in a pub about how "American pussy rugby" stole and soiled the good name of "football".

If you ask me, football/soccer is MUCH more boring than American football. I mean, jesus, can something HAPPEN already?

I can't believe I haven't thought of this yet, but here goes. Since there's so many of you from the opposite side of "the pond" from me. I was curious. What do you English think of American Football (not soccer or Footie)?

How can something be called football when they mainly carry the bloody ball around? It should be called handball or padded rugby.

How many players do you know, and vice versa. I am a huge sports fan, and know very few players in The Premier League, but for an American, the fact that I even know what The Premier League is, is quite a rare piece of knowledge, at least, in my experience. I thought it would be fun to post some guys that are commonly known around here in the states, and see which Europeans could identify them.

I do not know any american football players, but then I don't know many English football players so I am far from representative.

Likewise, feel free to post pics of notorious Soccer players (footie), and prepare to be astounded at the ones I don't know at all!

David Beckham and Wayne Rooney are the only curent footballers I know, My mind is geared for higher things.

Might be fun to see what comes of this. Americans can post Baseball or NFL Football players. Europeans can post English Football or Rugby players. Deal? Anyway, here's a player from my favorite team that's pretty commonly known around here. Who is he, and what team is this? Europeans only please! No Google!

I quite like women's Wimbledon for some reason; I think it's when they grunt. And have you seen the big plate they have as a trophy?
