I sign everything I write on the internet with my name. If I make any statement on the internet I will make that same statement in real life. Rhe same goes for keeping a civil tongue. I will not shy away from calling a spade a spade when it warrants it both in real life as on the internet.
Example: If someone says "He/She is with God now" at a funeral, I will let that slide. It is not the time or the place to demand evidence for that. If someone says to me "God will provide" when I want something done, then I will have a serious heart to heart.

I'm open both offline and off. The only times I may be less open offline is because I have to deal with the possibility of physical danger offline, I don't online. But that's still me making a decision. You can't be anyone but yourself, you can't be anybody but your body.

I think "yourself" is a mental consucts of your beliefs and decision and how you interpret and communicate theese to yourself and others. I think you can step outside of that and "pretend" to be somone you're not, or a facade if you will. Are you saying that this would still be expressing some aspect of yourself therefore still it's being "you"? If you hold to that then we all have the potential to be exactly the same, which is an interesting hypothesis.

aha, so they're not being true to themselves. Themselves being the sum of what they, are, believe and have experienced? I think I understand a little better now.

I guess so yeah,
Sometimes it's with good reason though... some people keep parts of themselves for a number of reasons, be it good or bad.
Often for privacy or just out of plain shyness... but then, say, if it's out of shyness - then that's just another part of them being them, that's just another part of their individual personality - because that's due to their shyness.. if you know what I mean.
