I love close-up insect shots, FFF!! Well done!! Smile

Here are a couple I snapped earlier this fall... this little lady took up residence in my wood shed. Known as a Cross Spider. Can't think why. Wink

She's gone now, left behind an impressive egg sac. These are good spiders, so I'll leave it alone.

Dammit, autocorrect - insect!

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

RE: What I saw offline today.
Preying mantids and walking sticks are some of my favorite insects to see. Very rare here in coastal California, at least in my garden. You must see a few to recognize that she is pregnant. (Sure looks it too.)

Well I got in a walk in a redwood forest this afternoon, just Heidi Rose and myself this time. About three miles, no hurry. In such low light it takes a lot of hand held shots to get anything usable, especially of my flitty dog. Come along then but do keep up.

A dog with its nose to the ground is a happy dog, in touch with its inner wolf.

Do you remember the recent fire on Mt. Diablo? It chased most of them here to my area. We have many more than usual in this area. I see one or two a week, but I am also very vigilant in looking out for insects.

I love your pics BTW Big Grin

Surprise, surprise. You're not far away. Somehow I thought you were in the South. (Must have been the rebel flag, hillbilly neighbors and p.u. pool.) You'd be welcome to come to our garden/studio party in May, the Sunday before Labor day weekend. Lia loves your television program, "House" I think it's called.
