So my parents got me a DSLR camera for Christmas (My Dad is a camera nut and wants to get me into a common hobby since I suck at golf) a Cannon EOS1100D anyway I like it but I need something like Photoshop but being a PhD student I can't afford the €760 cost of it!!!

Is there a free alternative to Photoshop?

Gimp is pretty good and free.
Adobe released photoshop CS2 as freeware a few months ago:
http://www.techspot.com/downloads/3689-a...p-cs2.html It's not the latest and greatest photoshop, but it gets most of the jobs done. RE: Is there a free alternative to Photoshop?

GIMP or CS2 for sure. Gimp is set-up a bit differently, but has mostly the same functions as photoshop. But any photoshop has a more professional interface and is a bit more appealing to work on.

(Special serial numbers are provided on the page for each product download.) I agree, but some people can be paranoid about software licensing so i though it better to clarify.
