Body modification

Body modification
I personally disagree with this video. But what's your thought on body modification? I personally think you should never do anything that's not reversible. I supposed the elf ears aren't too bad since you can always cover them up. But I'm not sure about other stuff.

RE: Body modification
I think it's ok provided that person who's opting to do it isn't inebriated and is of age and understands that it's permanent.

It's a big commitment though, and I personally think people who get tattoos when they're drunk are really stupid XD, but you can laser it off and it's your body.

If people want to fuck up their own bodies I'd say it's their prerogative. Personally I think getting elf ears is fucking stupid, but then again, it's her body.

RE: Body modification
Wow. They're so nasty. I like elf ears; and it's not like nobody is born with pointy ears, so it's far from extreme. Models get work done all the time, at least this one has gone for something a bit more original than a boob job or lip injections.

For the most part, I think body mods are a personal choice that everyone has a right to make. The only possible exceptions would be major modifications that might cause problems in their day-to-day life, which could vary greatly from person to person. Like, if a lawyer wanted a full face tattoo it might be worth making sure they're fully aware of what damage that could do to their career, while for a stall holder in Camden, a full face tattoo could have the opposite effect.

ELF EARS RULE!

RE: Body modification
In a world where people are changing their whole bodies to resemble the other gender, getting elf ears doesn't seem too crazy.

It reminds me of the Questionable Content webcomic, where this transgender person was getting all stressed out over the idea of getting her ears pierced. It was just the weirdest thing.

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

RE: Body modification
I personally don't care for any body modifications and don't even like tattoos. I guess if people want to do it that's their right, but I have to echo what NoraBrimstone said above.

This falls under the category of behaviors I think are strange, but don't care about because they don't affect me. This category is pretty large, though, including anal sex, voting Repbublican, and voluntarily eating escargot.

If it was a person I cared about, I would definitely try to talk her out of it. It seems like the kind of change that is unlikely to produce any long-term benefit, psychologically or otherwise.

I would be more interested in the thinking and reasoning behind the real why of doing something like this.

I'm sure it's similar to tattoos, in that she wants something to make her stand out as a person. Now if she starts thinking she's literally an Elf, then we may have some problems.

RE: Body modification
Couldnt watch the video for some reason. I do really like unusual people and having bizarre body mods is a great sign they might be a bit odd. That said, personally most I'd ever do would be a small tattoo if I could find anything worth writing on myself permanently.
