BILL NYE VS KEN HAM: TONIGHT AT 7 PM
|
I'm torn about watching this live. On the one hand, personal bias enters into the equation in wanting to see Nye cream Ham LIVE, ONE NIGHT ONLY!! On the other hand, I don't want to give credence to this sham of a "debate" and inflate the number of people who are streaming the debate live which will surely be used by Ham as a way to boost his ego and claim "look at all the questioning people out there! I'm sure they'll all come to jesus by tomorrow!"
I'm also reasonably sure that some tech guru will be able to record the unedited debate and post it to youtube or something so I'll eventually be able to watch it if I want to. That way if Nye does a bad job I can catch the Readers Digest version tomorrow and gauge whether it's worth watching.
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.
What's next? A cosmologist debating an astrologer?
This is stupid exercise on Nye's part. Only downside; no upside. RE: BILL NYE VS KEN HAM: TONIGHT AT 7 PM

I don't disagree but there are far too many creationists in America, and given that the debate is taking place at Ham's Creation Museum, I can only hope Nye peels off a few of the more sensible believers.

I've been hearing about this. I don't think they should have it at the creationist museum, and some atheist youtubers think that not much will come of it. I have nothing against Bill Nye. I used to watch his show when I was young. The best we can hope for is that he'll make at least a few people in the audience really think, and that their doubts won't be quickly squashed by their family or church.

I will not be watching because my one remaining friend who gives a damn about me is having a party and invited me to it, but I hope to see afterward that Bill Nye eviscerated him.
I don't believe I'll watch because I don't want to see anyone give this guy a shred of credibility.
For anyone interested in watching this as it happens, live streaming can be found here:

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
I'm watching it with the meetup group. Should be entertaining.
