BILL NYE VS KEN HAM: TONIGHT AT 7 PM
#31
RE: BILL NYE VS KEN HAM: TONIGHT AT 7 PM
Most Christians are not Creationists. Few minds will be swayed by this debate, but I hope that it brings awareness to non-Creationist Christians of the exact brand of bat shittery involved when the term Creationist is used in the news. I would love to see an alliance between unbelievers and most Christians in keeping this bullshit out of schools.

So I don't see this about 'winning' a debate. If Bill Nye can use his celebrity for the Ken Hams of the world to show a broader audience how ridiculous Young Earth Creationism is, I say job well done.

If you find red herrings to be humorous, even after being told they're irrelevant, I guess so.

Quote:Science deals with induction, math and logic deal with proof. I realize I have told you this before…
I'm pretty sure you're wrong but even if you're right, irrelevant. The word "prove" in this context is in an argumentative sense. It was in the same sense as used in that "A Few Good Men" scene I once referred you to:

"It doesn't matter what I believe. It only matters what I can prove."

It was a great movie until the very end when the movie asked me to believe that Tom Cruise could make Jack Nickleson break on the stand.

I actually bet he gives Nye the last word; Christians are very charitable in that regard. Lennox gave Dawkins the last word, Frame gave Martin the last word, and Wilson always gave Hitchens the last word. We’re not as sinister as you guys like to believe you know Tongue Either way, both debaters have agreed upon the format.

The only way that Christians could be generous here would be to give Nye 1 hour for every minute Ken Ham speaks.

It takes an hour to fully debunk the Creationist lies spoken in one minute, as demonstrated in this video:

Actually it’s called irony, and it’s very humorous at times.

I am not wrong at all. Only Mathematics and Logic deal with proof. The fact you did not seem to know that seems very relevant to me.

Quote: It was a great movie until the very end when the movie asked me to believe that Tom Cruise could make Jack Nickleson break on the stand.

Now, that’s funny!

...so he needs such a ridiculous handicap in order to hold his own? I agree with that.

Well, a couple of minutes in and Ham has already launched into an argument about what science is, how it's been hijacked by secularists, and namedropped his appeals to authority.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Personally, I hate censorship.

You do not see the difference between empirical science and historical science? Really?

I don't care. I prefer to let the speakers do their job. I just thought people might be interested in current events, that's all.

CSI?.....Seriously?

Animals that died in the surface waters would not have been fossilized Mr. Nye.

Many scientists have been at least deists. There's no real surprise there. Though the scientific method is secular by definition, since we can only examine the natural world. Not anything spiritual.
