My Conversion from Fundamentalism (Long!)

And I can't see how anyone could get away with it in a civilised society. They denied closeness with the opposite sex? they talked you into letting them track you online?!? ...that's removing your choice right there. They are taking on the role of God rather than leaving it between you and God which is where it should be/ has to be.

In fact I'm gonna transfer my accusation from you to them - they were no Christians. That the gospel of hate, power and control if ever I saw it. I'd be there protesting against them in a shot.

LOL.

Every time a Christian does something questionable, I can count on you saying that they weren't real Christians anyway.

Isn't your religion the one that is based on grace and not works?

I corrected your cliche for you Tav.

I certainly believe it was the original intention of the people we're talking about was to be like Christ in their actions. This is, after all, how a Christian is defined is it not? In looking at evidence of actions we can judge to a certain extent the motivations for those actions and compare them to the model they claim to follow.

And you are correct; grace is what saves us and not works... which would then allow for mistakes.

You don't claim any affiliation with any other atheist, other than a shared lack of belief. Likewise I claim no affiliation with theists, other than their adherence to the definition. What you're saying is akin to me saying that atheism encompasses something outside adherence to the definition. Which would of course be nonsense.

Why keep repeating this nonsense?

I'm talking about you personally. You assign additional values to the religion, then discount those who don't conform to your assertions.

Here's a definition of Christian from the Cambridge dictionary:

A Christian (pronounced /ˈkrɪs.tʃən/ ( listen), /ˈkrɪs.ti.ən/) is a person who adheres to Christianity, an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, who they believe is the Messiah (the Christ in Greek-derived terminology) prophesied in the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, and the Son of God.

How would you determine if a person is a "real" Christian or not? If your personal convictions rival theirs?

Would not their actions be largely irrelevant, if they believe in Christ, a savior that dies for the sins of all mankind, and through his grace, will grant you everlasting salvation?

Your cliche is trotted out frequently Tav, and is always foolish, as demonstrated.

I assign no 'additional' values to the religion. I agree with all other Christians. That you occupy quite a unique understanding of Christianity, somewhere close to ignorance, as repeatedly pointed out to you should be indicative to you that you may be wrong here. Or do you these Christians that surround you come out with this bullshit and you repeat it? It seems you are trapped in this illogical place in your mind. It's full of this rhetoric and there's no way to can stop spewing it up. Seems like you've been brainwashed well. Arcanus has taken the trouble to explain precisely what Christianity is to you, and here you are hours later talking like you didn't read any of that.

I never determine "real" Christian ever. That's clearly an atheist strawman. Seems you're bursting with those. Combine it with an unshakeable misconstrued definition and there we have Tav. Fundamentalist FTW!

Can you explain to me what that statement means?

Although that doesn't necessarily mean 'Christ's actions were 'right' or 'good' Smile

Wether their actions were 'Christ-like' or not... they certainly are unnerving to me.

Um no, it isn't
At least not by be me.

My definition of a christian.
Belief in jesus christ as a diety.

This is the core of christianity, everything else are just optional extras.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.
