POE, POE, POE....
I'm done with this guy, Even if he's not a POE, he's got no arguments.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

How do you know that earth is the only planet with life on it? Fact is, that is extremely unlikely.
There are 200 billion galaxies, each with 100-200 billion stars. So far, astronomers have found planets everywhere they look. So, planets are ubiquitous in the universe.
Astronomers have also found amino acids in space, and water is plentiful in space.
What makes you believe that earth is the only planet with life? We haven't even explored the entire solar system yet, let alone other stars.
Wow so you believe in aliens.

And let's continue: No salt waters, no glaciers, no dry plains, no deserts, no high altitude mountain ranges, no poisonous flora and fauna, no pathogenic bacteria, viruses, protozoa and other single-cell organisms, no parasites, no predators.. The list goes on and on.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

For water? Man polluted it, not God.
Ice caps, deserts, mountainous regions. Oh so many areas hostile to humans.

I never said I did. I just believe that the chances for other life in the universe is quite great.
Wow. So you believe in talking snakes, talking donkeys, men living in fish for 3 days, zombies leaving their graves and walking around Jerusalem.

Yeah. Except for the fact that life only seems to exist on the crust, which is kinda a small part of the earth. And even that crust has some places that are pretty damn inhospitable to life like the poles. And humans can't live on 2/3 of the planets surface because we need to live on dry land. So, once you get past those details, ok, yeah, earth is a pretty good place to live.

There's an entire field of science, abiogenesis, that researches the emergence of life from non-living matter. I can't say I'm a big follower on it, but I do know scientists have created amino acids in a lab without any other organic materials, and seeing as how amino acids are the basic building blocks of life, it isn't a stretch to think that they could create single celled organisms from that.
Quote:The universe is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo big and yet we're the only known place with life.
Emphasis mine.
No, we don't know life exists elsewhere. But we've only mapped out an extremely small portion of the universe. And we've only been able to closely examine that small portion of the universe for a very short time. So, suppose there's life about 3,000 light years away; we'll probably never have any contact with it.... but it will still be there. And suppose there was life in orbit of Alpha Sentari, but it died out a million years ago. Again, we wouldn't have any real way of knowing about it.
All we know is a small section of the universe and only for a small window before humanity dies out, too.
Quote: What are the odds? And you guys say Christianity is crazy...
The odds are 100% that life started here. If it hadn't started here, well, we wouldn't be here to wonder what the odds are. If life had started elsewhere, we would have wondered what the odds were that life would start there. So maybe a more accurate question would be, what are the chances beings would sit and wonder the chances of their own existance (and that seems to be about 100% for intellectually evolved beings).

So let me get this straight. You think that when there are two possible answers to a question, the chance of either answer being correct is always exactly 50%??? Your lack of logical reasoning is surpassed only by your lack of mathematical understanding.
