More moderation?

Sorry Sven. I've observed 'rat-packing' and never like seeing it. But too much moderation would make the place insipid. Please do report it to mods and see what can be done. Hopefully that will take care of it. Beyond that, try to remember a time when you were young and pulled the wings off of bugs (or whatever) to put it in perspective. If you were a theist you could pray for them. Otherwise just report and ignore.

I suppose I could have reported him. But I'm the kind of person who does not like having others fighting his battles. On a forum, the physical side of a conversation or argument is not present. You can't let someone know where the line is drawn with body language, and so on. That's why I try to completely ignore personal insults in the cloud.
I understand now I could have reported him and then told him that I had done this. Unfortunately, I didn't think of that at the time.

You do have a point there. I should have reported him, and then told him about it.

When reports happen, we evaluate together its merit. If the reported member did nothing wrong he will not know about it. If he did, then he will surely notice.

Not only this, but members are actually obliged to report or otherwise raise concerns over rule-breakers:

If you are aware of a member breaking the rules, you are obligated to report them to the staff, either via the Report System or by sending one of the staff a PM. Protecting rule-breakers (especially sockpuppets of currently banned members) will not be tolerated, and anyone caught doing it will be warned and possibly banned as a result. All instances will be carefully considered by staff to determine if this was willfully done.
