He has one record breaking and most radical deconversion ever! Poes are a subset of trolls. Poe.

My faith has been shaken to the core. I have never read such compelling ideas. Several of you are very insightful and have made me think things I have never thought before.

I keep reading all over these forums and everywhere my arguments are destroyed.

I think its time for me to take a serious look at atheism but I don't know how to exist without God. How do you do it? How do you live without any light in your life? It scares me to think that maybe there isn't any light and we're all just aimlessly wandering.

If Satan is real, he has had such a victory over me. On the other hand, if he's not real than what can I count on? What is real? If my Lord and savior is not as real as I believe him to be, than who is??

What's the meaning in all of this?!
It's like everything I know has been shaken to its foundations and I have no walls around me.
Praying doesn't even seem to help when one has these sort of doubts because I keep thinking that Im praying to no one.

Maybe I should call Pastor Ryan. He's always been a good guide in my life.

I've decided to just go ahead and embrace atheism.

You are not praying to no one - you are praying to yourself.
And you do know how to exist without a god - you have been doing so all your life. Pastor Ryan is of no use - because he is simply passing along things he cannot prove are true. Nor can anyone else for the Thousands of other religions out there as well

The question you must ask yourself is - if a god is ALL loving - and ALL forgiving - and Almighty - and perfect - Where is the "perfect" world that should exist. How do you come to the conclusion that the god is perfect when NOTHING is - but if a perfect god created it - then it could not create anything that was not perfect. And why is it that theists cannot be moral or ethical UNLESS there is a reward in it? (Or a punishment if you do not)?

Now - simply admit that Humans are imperfect beings - that have intelligence - and are capable of living a moral and ethical life for the one correct reason - because it is the right thing to do!

And live a long and good life - and have no regrets

Hey, EoG - guess what we decided.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I can attest to that. It took finally reading a few books on real science to get me to give up clinging to religious dogma as truth.

Actually an argument between two nuns convinced me that religion was nonsense

I went to catholic schools through my first two years in college - where the Biology Professor would NOT accept the statements of the religion - when applied to the study of Evolution - when the Religion Professor said she HAD to.

I missed the not so rare or beautiful poe flower coming to full bloom. Damn. The banhammer is swift but just.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I may sound like a prideful jerk but I will take a little credit of his decision to apologize.

[quote] Poe
A person who writes a parody of a Fundamentalist that is mistaken for the real thing. Due to Poe's Law, it is almost impossible to tell if a person is a Poe unless they admit to it.
"The Bible is true because it's the inerrant word of God! I know because the Bible says so! Glory!"

Is this guy serious? He's got to be a poe.
