I've never had a boyfriend ask the DTMMALF question. Curiously, while I like the burly looks of lumberjack and linebacker types, I tend to wind up in relationships with skinny guys.
Except the ginger, he was nice size. And despite being repeatedly intimate, I still don't know about the soul thing. I'm not even sure I have one.
Anyhow, I don't think I've heard any of the gay couples I know (ESPECIALLY the Lesbians!) comment on the topic.
