common speeling errors

RE: common speeling errors
I know you're right in your assertion that many people confuse "your" with "you're," but then again, many of them know better. They're just typing too fast. (Sorry I don't have a site to cite for this proposition.) I too, type too fast when I should take a moment or two to proof my post before hitting enter. Consequently, I too have often posted word use errors. There are also many times that I've caught myself and corrected the errors in my posts before they're discovered by those who think that their spelling is proof of their superiority. But more often I do not.

Considering the bare truth about how many I catch, please bear with me about the ones I do not, because if usage typos were bears, they would have eaten me long ago. Whether you will still read the sense of my posts or whether you be unable to weather the errors, I cannot say. Maybe you think I'm a loose canon or a lost soul, when citing the atheist cannon, but I hope you will find my rushed posts better than no posts at all.

Now can anyone give me a good mnemonic for the difference between "dessert" and "desert?"

Once upon a time it drove me crazy, but then I began to use my cell phone like a mini laptop, and it is determined to toss in weird shit constantly. Sometimes I catch it before hitting "Post Reply" and sometimes I don't. I just don't even care anymore. These smart phones can be real dumb asses, but I like having a computer in my pocket at all times. Like Boone in LOST, It's a sacrifice the island (Earth) demanded.

I'm fairly new at cell phones so it's possible I just haven't mastered my swyping technique.

Try connecting it to the double s you're trying to remember. Deserts are barren, desolate. Desserts are the opposite. Which one has "more (or less) s"?

I make mistakes from time to time, that a simple proofreading would have corrected. Sometimes my fingers get ahead of themselves so that I type thta instead of that. Probably the simplest way to tidy up a post is to just remember to read what you typed before hitting submit. If you're like me, and you type while looking at the keyboard instead of the monitor, you're bound to fumble without immediately noticing your mistake.

My most common is probably hitting the proper keys out of order. I put the i before the d in immediately, for instance.

I second guess myself with believe and receive all the time. Even with the stupid i before e rule.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Ugh. I hate trying to spell out 'believe' in any quick typing environment, like phone texting or gaming chats.
I think I misspell it about 80-90% of the time. Undecided
