To clarify my OP.
I meant, do preachers literally represent the reproductive organs of religion.
I think they do.
They may or may not also be jerks, that being another definition of the slang term 'dick.' Some dicks are very pleasant and useful.

"Some people don't believe in unsubstantiated religious claims of truth and demand evidence before they're willing to entertain the the claim."

I don't think there will be a need to teach irreligion or atheism in schools. Teaching scientific knowledge and the scientific method, as well as critical thinking and philosophy will suffice and the number of non religious students will rise - That is already happening, millenials and generation Y are the generations with more access to education, public or private, and are also the most irreligious ones

I don't know about most preachers. But most of the ones I knew well in my childhood weren't dicks. They were sincere. Kind and generous even and they weren't well paid.

I didn't want to be confirmed because I didn't believe. It's the pastor who squared that with my parents. He didn't want someone lying before alter. He also, poor soul, recommended I read the Bible cover to cover. Great advice, but it didn't have the effect he intended. He stopped talking with me about it after a few sessions though. My questions unnerved him.

Preachers are specialized structures who replicate and spread religious memes using, it seems, any scheme or scam available to them. Applying a human, biological metaphor, the preacher is an aggressively male reproductive organ of the religious super-organism. That is, in the vernacular, a dick.

Yeah, among other things, its a really specialized field that isn't particularly transferable. It makes it really hard to know if you're having an honest conversation with them.

An interesting anecdote: I was a member of a Christian Facebook group for a while started by one of my friends. Three members in particular were quite childish. Two were Baptists pastors and the third was the son of one of the other two.

We shouldn't aspire to tell other people's children what to think. Let them learn about atheism in a class on religion, and let them learn science and critical thinking. If they turn out atheist, fine, and if they don't fine. Wherever they wind up, they weren't led there by the nose at taxpayer expense.

Of course, it could be taught legally at a private school, but I recommend the same for them.
