Drich, how many atheists you know claim they know no god exists?
Logic won't allow us to take that stance.
The only people I know are the religious who know 100%.

And we're the arrogant ones? Figure....

Haven't really spend much time with Muslims huh? I'm not talking about the luke warm brotherhood who have "sold out their faith their god and their countrymen who live in the west." I'm talking about the fly a plane into a building because the westerners will turn 'us' from 'our' god and corrupt our women and children, into thinking it is ok for them to let their faces be seen in public. While pointing to the once 'devoute' brother where live in the west that are now corrupt and are 'Muslim' by name only.

Your fellow christers would do the same if no one were controlling them.

A feeling of persecution is deeply rooted in Christianity. It doesn't surprise me at all that many christians are paranoid.

Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.

Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.

Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.

Christianity seems like one big paranoid delusion to me. If anyone else went round saying "there is an invisible man in the sky, watching everything I do, he speaks to me and he's going to punish me if I don't believe in him and do what he says etc etc" they'd get locked up and put on medication. But if you say you're a Christian you're treated like it's perfectly normal and even encouraged in some circles.

It's not just christians. Paranoia is a tool that a lot of religions use, which makes a lot of sense, given that they tend to phrase reality as a huge Us and Them confrontation in which Them is a supernaturally empowered evil force influencing every human who believes something other than what Us believes.

Case in point, we've had more than one muslim here who was convinced that mainstream science was an enormous conspiracy founded to keep down islamic truths in favor of evolution. How do you argue against a position like that?

What Esquilax said. What tends to draw groups together is not what they are for, but what they are against. Probably a sociological evolution from tribal warfare. Nothing unites people like a threat. The communists had their "bourgeois" and their "counter revolutionaries. The nazis had their Jews. The had their protestants (and vice versa. If no actual threat exists, one will be invented. Being decentralised, has come up with a few, Atheism, secularism, the NWO, new ageism and Obama spring to mind.

Ironically, area where Christianity genuinely IS persecuted generally focus less on it!

Oh and yes. Not all Christians are alike.

I find it puzzling to aspire to a tepid, lukewarm, no fire in the belly kind of religion, denigrate those who in fact have, and revel in the insipidness of ones own ersatz, homogenized, pasteurized, bowdlerized, cleaned, sanitized and innocuous religious pap.

What IS the point ??
Being as I am no longer constrained by my tepid religion I would answer thus.

None of your fuckin' business SmileAngel

He's told you "the point", it gives him a support network. That's enough of a "point" for him. You don't think it's enough? That's fine. Doesn't have to be.

He's not telling us what our religion should be. He went out of his way to make that clear. I think that's a courtesy we might reciprocate.

Christianatheist. Are you saying that I must be paranoid because I'm a Christian? You are, aren't you. Everyone always thinks we're paranoid. I hear them whispering that as I walk by. Of course they pretend they're just talking about the weather, but I know that they're talking about how paranoid they think I am. They all think that.
