Well if nothing else it's refreshing to see someone who believes in god wanting to study atheism, although I am a little curious as to exactly how disinterested this study might actually be.

Um, been at this 13 years. When people offer their e-mails what they are really doing is trying to pick off someone they think they can mentor and sway. Much harder to do in the open where everyone can see.
Certainly there is a history of skepticism and you can point out individual skeptics and atheists who have had a huge impact on society. But the word "atheist" itself is not a club or religion. Saying you want to study "atheism" as if it were is like saying you want to study "lack of belief in unicorns".
What the theist can learn from atheists, isn't that we are a religion or political party. What they can learn from us is that we are not sheep, we are diverse, and our skepticism is a result, not of our label itself, but an exposure to how critical thinking works outside personal bias.

Clearly it was a passive sales pitch for a porn site......
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Well personally I'd love to hear more from Skygirl in the Forum, alas my suspicion is that she has no real interest in that...

D'uh, thats Genius! What better place to find depraved porn-minded souls than on an atheist forum!

Hi sorry if offended anyone with my post. I live in a very religious country and i'm finding it hard to interview someone (only got to interview 1). So, i decided to give this site a try. Main topics i plan to cover are the rejection of theism and identity process formation of an atheist. Some of the discussions in this thread are quite helpful and thank u for that. Since people are from different background, i would also want to know the background of the person i will be interviewing (thus giving out my email which was a wrong move, forgive me, this is my first time to join an online forum). If anybody is willing to participate, i would be more than grateful. Thank u.

How is interviewing 1 - ONE - person going to be helpful? How can this even begin to scratch the surface of any topic?

What country do you live in?

I suggest accruing 30 posts and being here for 30 days before trying to get anyone to do an interview. We're a community here and as such we prefer people to at least try to integrate themselves somewhat before asking things from us. Feel free to make threads on those topics, but I would advise against asking people to specifically be involved in your interviews until you meet the 30/30 requirement (see the rules).
Otherwise, welcome aboard. I hope you stick around and get to know us properly

The post was probably not offensive per se, just against the rules against spamming and advertising. It might feel a bit offensive to some if there is the feeling that forum members are used more as guinea pigs than discussion partners, and there is no real interest in discussion.
But you already surpassed expectations by replying.
So instead of doing straight onesided interviews I would propose that you open discussion threads with questions for example, and then *participate* in them by replying to criticism.
Can I ask what the assignment or study is for and what country?

Skygirl!
I hope you join in. You'll probably get much better results if you join in on the discussions. Interviews are entirely one sided. Discussions allow you to get to know our tone and online personalities. It will give you a lot more to write about.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
