Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.
Let's not have science get in the way of our pet woo fest.

I actually thought it was pretty creative

And there are prophecies that state that all Israel will be dispersed over the whole world. If you would like to see an LDS rebuttal to what you just said, here is a link to a video on the subject. It is about 3 hours and 40 minutes long, but I think you will find that if you have the patience you will see that DNA evidence does support the Book of Mormon claims. {snip} The first 5.09 minutes are an introduction, so you might want to skip over that. You might actually want to start at 12:20 into the video. (February 20, 2015 at 10:21 pm)ether-ore Wrote:(February 20, 2015 at 8:22 pm)Chas Wrote: None of them came to America. I'm curious where the Iron chariots are. Funny how none of the archeology fits the con man's wild story.
I'd also like an explanation for smith's hieroglyphics translation of the Egyptian papyri. http://www.mormonismdisproved.org/book_abraham.html Mormon's are so easy..

I mentioned the book of Abraham hoax earlier but ether didn't respond. Maybe now?

So I'll try and provide an answer for both you and Brakeman. Here is a link to the LDS apologetics site which explains about the Book of Abraham. but first, I'll make a couple of comments. I understand that it is said that the particular plate pictured in Brakeman's post is nothing more than an Egyptian burial rite and that the head of the priest is supposed to be the head Of Anubis. Well to me, it doesn't seem likely that there exists a creature with the body of a man and the head of a dog. What is more likely, is that the priest would be wearing a ceremonial head piece over his head in the form of a dog. In any case it would be a man, and it is depicted as a man in the plate in the Book of Abraham. There was no need to show the headdress. There are other differences, but I'll let the article explain them. <snip> and <snip> RE: Christian recall notice

Sorry folks... I was just informed by a moderator that I am not yet qualified to post links. I understand the reason is that I've not been a member long enough. In any case to answer the above questions, you can go to a web site called "FairMormon" to find the answers concerning the Book of Abraham.
As for the issue of DNA, I guess that will have to wait until I've been a member long enough. |
