I am worried by this. It is true, and I worry about students entering our universities. They already have a hard time learning basic calculus and physics. Near half the people in each science class fail, or get D's and have to re-take it.

But hell, I'm a student of an Oklahoma university, what do I know?

I don't even live in the United States and I'm worried about this. I remember there was/is something somewhat similar in the UK, the so-called "Trojan Horse" plot by Muhammadans to infiltrate certain state schools, control them (via the school governors and selective education) and ultimately indoctrinate the children via the state education system. Naturally, some of the staff at some of the schools under investigation played the victim card and denied any such plot was taking place.

As is usual, the story is like an onion with multiple layers.... and always it is republicunt assholes at the bottom of it.

Quote:Okla. debate over US history overshadows education cuts, critics say
Education budget cuts are the real scandal, say educators and policy analysts

Quote:Since the Great Recession, Oklahoma has implemented the most stringent education cuts across the country. State funding is down over 20 percent per pupil, according to David Blatt, executive director of the Oklahoma Policy Institute, a think tank.

Last week, House Speaker Jeffrey Hickman announced there would be no money for teacher raises in 2015. And proposals for more education funding — that would address teacher shortages and increasing the number of school days, for example — would likely not even be heard by the legislature due to a projected $600 million budget shortfall, local media reported.

Care to provide a link?

This sounds like it's coming from planet Alex Jones. And by link I don't mean The Sun or something as yellow.

Considering that the US is a major military super power it makes sense to be afraid that the country's citizen aren't educated.

I don't anything about Islam penetrating the UK school system. That sounds a bit out there to me

It's a pity that it isn't just Oklahoma. Education seems to be the first target whenever budgets are tight, no matter where you are in America.

Talk about fucking up your priorities -- cutting educational spending is like eating your seed-corn.
