Anyone who believes that the Bible offers the best guidance we have on questions of morality has some very strange ideas about either guidance or morality. ~ Sam Harris, Letters to a Christian Nation

What about the human race makes you think it has any empathy or moral code whatsoever?

If the world had morality, you wouldn't have billionaires and starving children existing simultaneously. If it had morality, the Holocaust would've never occurred, nor would the genocides in Rwanda and Darfur or those currently being perpetrated by ISIS. The world wouldn't allow the existence of evil regimes like Iran or China.

No, the human race is entirely devoid of morality, as it has proven time and time and time again, without fail.

Except for all the good and selfless acts carried out every day by billions of people across the world.
Do you think a secular, non-profit organization like Médecins Sans Frontières is in it for the money? The power? The fame?

What kind of bizarre bubble do you live in?

The only way I'd believe in god is if it manifested as Mila Kunis and, well, told me everything I wanted to hear. Naughty

Yes, there is at least the appearance of good, but it is actually self-righteousness at work. It is the work of Satan.

By that appearance, then "Christians" are the most moral people on earth, as they give more as a percentage of income than any other people, and send missionaries and all kinds of personal help to hell-holes everywhere.

The Bible's definition of good entails more than just doing charitable work. You must obey the commandments, and love your neighbor as yourself. That entails a whole lot more than charity.

There are celebrities who do all kinds of charitable work. Does that make them good? Not by the Bible's standards. You can't claim to love your neighbor as yourself when you hang on to millions in cash while millions suffer from lack of food and water. There is simply no justification for such behavior; it is pure selfishness.

Of course, this is assuming one does not recognize the sovereignty of God. People suffer because it is the will and wrath of God, in every case, down to the smallest detail. All disease, hunger, natural disasters, etc., are the wrath of God.

Therefore, one will not give or help another unless God wills one to do so, otherwise you are saying to God "what You are doing is wrong! I have to do something to stop you!" It is presumptuous to think one can oppose the will of God, and self-righteous to claim moral superiority.

If God is just, then all punishment that occurs is justified, in every case, without fail. And if it doesn't seem so to you, well, you're being presumptuous to think you know the hearts or sins of those who suffer. Only God knows the reins and hearts:

Jeremiah 17:10
I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds.

If you consider "good" to be following the commandments of the Bible, then I am happily and proudly "not-good".

No, obviously; those books identify themselves as fiction, while the Bible does not. And you actually got kudos for this comment?

Because it illustrates the way we view your book. And nowhere in the Harry Potter books themselves does it claim to be fiction.

The unholy babble certainly reads like fiction to me. In fact, it can be found in the fiction section of bookstores.

Pull up a pew 'n' stop what you're doin', it's babble reloaded tiiiiiiime....

God wets his bed so bad he cries the rest of the day. He's welcome to come kill me or make me into a christian, or do anything to shut me up.

Of course, that doesn't qualify as proof by your standards, but none such will ever be provided, because that would defeat the entire purpose the Bible so explicitly lays out. To demand it is akin to demanding water from a rock - ain't gonna happen without God Himself stepping in.

Then the minimum bar for evidence (which is very low) is set too high for your beliefs to ever convince us to take them seriously.

Unfortunately that's your problem, not ours.
