If anyone is interested in doing an experiment, one may wish to sign up at a forum with a name of the opposite gender of what one is, and tell everyone that one is of that opposite gender. Then post for a while (preferably a month or more), and see how one is treated with that gender. I think many people would be surprised with the results, though obviously a lot will depend on what forum one chooses and what one chooses to post there.

Not particularly interested in the thought. Many people do such things with video games, chatrooms, and various other outlets in order to hide their identity and sometimes take advantage of other people. I am content with being a male and remaining that way, though I wouldn't be surprised if others have done such things. Since you suggested it, have you?

I don't know about anyone else, but all text on my screen looks the same, neither male nor female nor however else a person may choose to identify as. Unless the people concerned choose to reveal less impersonal information and actually get to know one another, blank text is all we have to go on.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Wise words. Other than the fact that we have the occasional person reveal more about themselves or post pictures, I know nothing about the majority of the people here besides their views on religion and politics. And yet...I am unbothered by this.

That's odd, I see pink text for girls, blue for boys, and an alternating yellow/green for undisclosed...

A lot has changed since your little sojourn. In the edit options of your UCP there's a box that says "Put the editor in source mode by default". Tick that to solve all your problems.
