Also what made you really lose faith (if you ever had any at all)?
Also welcome to the forum Didn't see your introduction thread before
It can be a bit unnerving at times being both black and atheist. Honestly it's probably why I don't connect with the black community as well as I do with others.
I lost faith when I realized just how many different flavors of religion there are. I was asking myself questions like "Why should I believe in this god and not that god?" and "why do people in this country believe in a different god than in that country?" and I just put two and two together.
Thanks, yea lol I tend to jump in and out and sometimes just lurk for a while.

How do you feel about the voluntary confederate flag banning going on right now?
I'm sorry it's so isolating to you, being black and and atheist. I can only imagine.

Haha, no. Honestly, I'm just lazy. I can't be bothered to tell people im mixed because I will then be forced to tell them what I'm mixed with. It's far easier to simply say "im black"

What can you tell me that a white atheist couldn't tell me?
I guess what I'm saying is, what bearing does the color of your skin have on creating a thread about atheism?
Are black christians harder to bring into the enlightenment of reason than their white counter parts??? Are black people more devout?
And if so, why? Do they skip the part where god endorses slavery and really seems to have no love for the people of Africa even to this very day?

I'm white but I think it's important to give black atheists a platform, the atheist "community" (like everything else in this world) is so dominated by white males, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an exception. They're all amazing, but it's good to get different experiences and show atheism isn't just for white people.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable." - Maryam Namazie

It doesn't matter to me one way or the other. Im probably not your typical black guy. I'm sure many are rejoicing in the banning of the confederate flag, but I see no reason to celebrate it. I respect people's choice to proudly wave their flag. I don't believe it makes them a racist.
Aww thanks, but it's really not as bad as it seems. I enjoy the company of people of all colors. Besides, it feels kinda nice being a minority within a minority lol.

That's good. I like to keep things simple.
Atheists good. Theists idiots.

It could be worse, you could be a black atheist lesbian woman. That would be a steep hill to climb.

I just wanted to give a different perspective and because all the cool kids are doing it

Yes and yes lol. In my experience they are extremely more devout and stubborn.

The logic of the black christian is very strange. They seem to think that slavery was a test of sorts and makes them closer to god or some such nonsense. As for Africa, many black christians don't care since it isn't their tight knit group
