Hmm I think your point is more effective in an upstream scenario. I would agree that a novice baker is not very likely or able to make a gourmet donut. But an expert baker can make any quality donut they wish to make.

So, although a perfect creation could perhaps only be produced by a perfect creator. A less than perfect creation does not. It gives no insight into the creator's abilities, only the creator's decisions.

It's important not to lose the context of my comments. I disagreed with two users which suggested that an imperfect creation proves an imperfect creator. Clearly that isn't the case.

Secondly I disagreed with Yukon that such imperfections are explained away because God created them in the first place. Instead, scripture describes a perfect creation that fell, bringing death and imperfections into the fold.

Whether or not God exists and is smart doesn't matter, it could be a fairytale for all I care. But this fairly tale presents a narrative in which babies of genetic disorders are the victims of a fallen world, not God. God's only roles are creating everything good in the beginning, and then attempting to restore it once everything fell.

You...you John, prefer not to think of your god as having victimized it's human creations - but that is what the story tells us that it repeatedly did. The great fairy in magic book likes to fuck with us when we get uppity.
