You get a new curse, and you get a new curse, and you get a new curse...errybody gets a new curse! I'm not sure why that would be such an issue for you. God does what god wants. What he wanted to do at that moment was curse a bitch. Pretty small potatoes. He does worse as magic book continues to describe people laughing in his face and just generally not giving a shit about his psychotic need for love and acceptance. The "fallen state" of this world, as magic book tells it, is the product of a curse. Sure..sure.....you're supposed to believe that the lowly human worms deserved it, but there's no point in referencing gen 3 saying that god didn't curse, but punish, when magic book spends every inch of those referenced verses laying out his cantrip.

The word curse is only invoked when addressing the ground or the serpent, not Adam or Eve. You are going beyond the story in your claim.

Oh is that how curses work? You have to say "This is a curse" at each refrain of the curse, or it's not-a-curse? I must have missed that in my primer on the mechanics of christian magic.

If I were you, I'd spend more time trying to realize why I had an issue with the Curse God and less time trying to convince myself and others that it isn't a Curse God. God cursed the serpent and the ground, but he punished Adam and Eve not curse them. I agree getting the story right is important (see Genesis 3:14-19).

If God felt the need to curse the serpent then why did he put it in the garden?

I've always fell the glaring flaw in the Adam and Eve myth was God cursing them at all.  The tree from which they ate gave them the knowledge of Good and Evil.  Prior to eating, they could not possibly have known that disobeying God was an evil act.

This is the moral equivalent of beating a toddler for not knowing the economic implications of the Peace of Westphalia.

The franchise has always changed with it's fans. John here would prefer a less-curse happy god, and a less curse-happy magic book. Fundamentally, John doesn't believe in the god of magic book any more than he believes in biology..and that's understandable, since his culture and values are at odds with the culture and values deified in magic book.

To the authors, it was important that a god possess and demonstrate this ability. What kind of shit god couldn't lay a proper curse? John, however, wonders what kind of shit god would.
