Marxism is just the improper term for Socialism, they are the same thing. And it does work, just in a dysfunctional way. It's an effective system. Dystopian, sure, but effective.

Socialism was around before Marx began writing about it. He spends time critiquing what he deems inferior forms of socialism in his works.

Oh.......I didn't know that. I suppose Marxism is the most relevant form of Socialism in today's world, right?

The basics of Marxism are based on the idea of economic determinism.... that economies function the way they do because of socio-political forces that struggle against one another. Marx thought communism was the resolution of that struggle. (There's more to it than that, but those are the basics.)

Marxism could be defined as an ideology, though it wouldn't consider itself that. (It isn't an ideology on its own terms.) Some still contend that it looks like an ideology from the outside.

Another way of seeing it is a model or theory about how socialism/communism can (or inevitably will) come to dominate human society.

There are several lenses through which one may examine it.

I like the "value-based" approach of the so-called analytical Marxists. They evade the accusations of pseudo-science leveled at orthodox Marxism by Karl Popper. It rejects the Leninist "vanguard" approach... which I also find unappealing.

I believe the followers of Jesus, whoever they are, will come to dominate society. I am not necessarily including myself in that group.

Explain to Norwegians why their system is so Dystopian.

Well, we already know what it looks like when Christians dominate society. They haven't shown themselves to be utopian. People were burned at the stake for trivial things when Christians really had power.

Did you mean some "more enlightened" followers of Jesus, or did you mean the same kind of Christians who ruled Europe during the dark ages will come to dominate society?

I mean the real followers of Jesus, not fake Christians. And Norway is infamous for church burnings, such as those perpetrated by Varg Vikernes.

Yes, enlightened followers. They won't be burning anyone at the stake.

Oh, the "real" Christians.  Yeah, I forgot about those.  Good thing, that.  Jerkoff

Good to hear.  One guy burns churches and that means...what?  That makes Norway about 1 millionth as violent as the good ole USA.

And tell me again how horrible they have it there?  Hmmm?

The true followers of Jesus will come out of the woodwork at just the right time. And how would I know what living in Norway is like, if I've never lived there?
