Albert Baez was a Mexican-American physicist who co-invented the x-ray reflection microscope, established the physics department at Baghdad University, developed the optics for an x-ray telescope at MIT, served as the first director of science education for UNESCO, produced hundreds of educational films on physics, and founded a charitable organization to provide pre-school education to impoverished villages in Mexico.

Oh, and he was also Joan Baez' dad.

That The Princess Bride actually takes place in Chicago. Okay, not the main story, but the frame story with Peter Falk and Fred Savage. How do I know this?

Well, the Bears shirt looks like a dead giveaway.

There’s also an ‘Empire Strikes Back’ tumbler on the shelf - does that mean it took place on Dagobah?

Maybe it was the Chinese Empire?

Unless Empire is also a fictional work in the Star Wars universe, I doubt it. Also, the last scene gives a better view of his room.

Upon further reflection, I wondered if the Bears shirt may be a coincidence; after all, the year before the film was released, the Bears won the Super Bowl. Perhaps this might have led to some out-of-towners getting merch. But then, I asked “what the shit kind of out-of-towner is also a fan of the Cubs? Especially when their losing streak was reaching its eighth decade?” Especially by that point, if you’re a Cubs fan, you’re either from Chicago (specifically the North Side, because that’s part of the unwritten laws of Chicago, alongside “no ketchup on hot dogs” and “my lawn chair, my parking space”) or you’re a masochist. And I don’t think Fred Savage is old enough in this film to have developed a pain fetish.

So, not only is it set in Chicago, it’s set on the North Side.

All the shirt and the other gear demonstrates is that the Fred Savage character was a Bears fan, not that the framing scenes were set in Chicago. Maybe the family recently re-located to Chicago (to take care of Grandpa, for example). Maybe Unseen Dad spent his childhood in Chicago, but hadn't lived there for years, and passed his fan-ness on to his son.

I know that to profit from the sale of the bird that everyone who buys organic free range peta-approved biodynamic magic chicken wants...is $26 per.

This might explain why chicken dinners were a rarity before industrial production. If a family had one chicken for dinner every night, they would need roughly 7 acres devoted to their production - and some way to offload 30 dozen eggs a day. The industrial model produces the same with 155 cubic feet of cage.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I learnt that the local recycling collection team will refuse to collect your recycling if there's "too much" of it. Point blank. Just left on the curb. My fault I guess for missing collection 2 weeks running through absent mindedness. I don't know, you try and do the right thing and recycle, but then...#grumble grumble grumble
