Following the insight that one can best appreciate great artists when one has properly failed at it oneself, I've decided to gather all the hubris I could muster, read a bit about fugue theory and try and construct a three voice one. It turned out better than I expected, on a relative scale, but really gives you a new appreciation of what these people did
. I especially botched the stretto at the end. This is the preliminary result, played using the software musescore
