S. Pinker claims in one of his talks that certain English swear words get culturally hard-wired in some native speakers to a visceral reaction which bypasses the rational processing of the word. This is his explanatiin, I think, why people demand that one not use them (because one burdens the listener with/manipulates them into an unsolicited emotional reaction). Fuck that
