I think that people in certain jobs have to find humor in some situations just to be able to deal with stress.
My mother had an undiagnosed mental disorder. I suspect Borderline Personality Disorder. My brother suspects some kind of schizophrenia; although, I don't know how she could hide something like that from professionals. When we are together, sometimes we laugh about how abusive and terrible she was because it helps us deal with our childhoods. Some of our humor is really dark.
