And it would follow, that if your god has any interactions with the natural world (answering prayer, miracles, communicating with individuals, causing floods, famine, etc) he would leave evidence in said natural world. Which would put the claims of an interventionist god directly in the purview of science.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
