My self, along with many fellow Catholics, have the opinion that no, they do not.I think there is some kind of communication breakdown here. I think that you are using the word "opinion" in the place of the word belief. If this is the case, then you should really buy a dictionary.
Opinion- a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
Belief- an acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists.
Do those terms seem synonymous? Here are some examples:
Opinion- I like the taste of bread.
Belief- I do not accept that bread exists.
Your opinion does not affect the natural world, however your belief, if correct does.
I don't think it is grammatically incorrect to say "it is my opinion that atheists don't automatically go to Hell for being atheist."
But if it is (and it may be), by all means, replace that word opinion with the word belief if that makes it easier for you to understand the message I am trying to convey.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
