Yeah, Chuck. I guess I wasn't clear enough. While they may have gotten their butts kicked it was the Japanese who did the planning and the attacking while the Brits played defense...more or less.
Isandlwana and Market Garden were British plans which resulted in fiasco. Of course, if you want examples of less than stellar military planning and execution there is always Passchendaele, Somme and Gallipoli.
