There's a big difference between 'borderline religious mania side hugs only with the opposite sex' devout and 'church every Sunday' devout.

Exactly, that's why I didn't cast a vote. I know deeply religious people who don't take the more bigoted messages of the bible literally and are the nicest peope in words as well as actions. And I know literalists whom I simply don't consider to be good people, since exclusivness and judgmental attitudes don't sit well with my definition of good.
