It makes perfect sense. A teacher who didn't take high school too seriously but still appreciates the value of higher education is a cool teacher. Especially kids who struggle a bit or are late bloomers will appreciate your perspective. You can however still relate to the super achievers because you have an excellent college education. I always thought that those teachers who convinced themselves that high school was the most important thing in the world were often.insufferable and boring.
