I've explained my views a little bit, by saying that 1. I don't believe Hell is a physical place, 2. I don't believe God "throws" people into Hell, and 3. I believe Hell is the state of being by an individual who has rejected goodness and love, thus rejecting God Himself (since I believe God is those things).
My wife has fairly unorthodox views on Hell. She's a big fan of Rob Bell's book Love Wins, which basically claims that Hell was a garbage dump outside of Jerusalem*, and that Jesus loved to use this metaphor because people would understand it. He claims that everyone goes to heaven, and "hell" is what you make of it (i.e. Hitler realizing that there are Jews and black people there). After enough time, everyone gets over their hangups.
* Of course, this is supported by one esoteric verse in Joshua and the writings of a 12th century rabbi. I don't think there's much else to back this claim.
