Sebastian Spencer Jacob dieing is a very sad thing and i respect that but he did die because of religious extremists...also i think its a sad delusion that people are so grieved by a loss that they think its better to pretend the person is alive still just in a better place. i contend that it is better to rejoice for the time you had with a person and remember them...and grieve that they will not be part of your life anymore but deluding yourself to feel better is crazy.

also why do i have no right to laugh at religion?? it is completely illogical and i find it funny so many people cant think for themselves. also it makes me slightly nauseous.

Natalyn Nelson My name is Joe Drumm. I am a freshman attending UW Lacrosse as a declared Biochemistry Major. A few things I've learned over college (particularly in Biology) have reaffirmed my faith that there is a god. To disagree with organized religion is one thing (I can see why people do so) but to say there isn't a god is absolutely ridiculous. I have two main points to make:
1) Science cannot replicate the start of life
As a scientist, I believe in natural selection as well as evolution. I believe creatures can adapt to their surroundings. However, as a scientist, I'm also forced to accept the fact that the begings of life cannot be replicated. Science has tried for decades to produce even the smallest form of life from the 'primordial soup'. However, the scientific community has been unsuccessful. Scientific theory dictates that if a hypothesis is not able to be successfully replicated, then it must be thrown out. As of now, we cannot explain how life was formed.
2) ATP
ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) is the basic energy source for cells. I could write a long explanation as to how this is done, however i'll stick to the basics. In a Eukariotic cell (animal and plant cells) ATP is converted by a specific protein. This protein is critical in our survival due to how much ATP it produces. Our cells require a large amount of this substance to survive. Without this protien, we produce about 2 molecules. With it, we produce 32 (the time frame is nanoseconds i believe, so without, 2 atp/ns and with 32 atp/ns). This protein produces this large amount of ATP by using mechanical motion (again, complicated) to crush together ADP (Adenosine Diphosphate) with a Phosphate molecule. Yes. Mechanical motion. Within a cell. Now I'm a scientist-to-be, not a statistician, but what do you think the chances are of a cell using mechanical energy to produce enough ATP to sustain us?

In conclusion, don't fuck with the idea of there not being a god. There's too much science cannot explain.

1.If there is this god how did it come in to being?
2.so because we cant explain something yet that automatically makes god real. we couldn't prove the earth was round? but it is and we can prove it now. your logic is flawed. your god idea creates a logic loop and therefor fails.
dont assume you are a master of biochemistry because you took a freshman collage course.
you should read some of richard dawkins books mainly the god delusion to your exact argument he has a very good answer much better then mine. just because something is complicated dosent mean it cant exist.
it is much more likely that the primordial soup produced organic matter then there is a being which has no evidence of existence at all and came in to being someway that will remain unexplained. also some physicist i think Stephan Hawkings suggested or proved a very likely theory that matter can be created from "nothing" i dont understand the physics behind it but just putting that out there.

And FYI i was not debating the Existence of a god if you want to Belive in that w.e your choice i was making a point that organised religion is a bad thing.

i also believe that if there is a god that it doesn't deserve to be worshiped nothing does. if there really was a god i doubt it would care if people didn't believe in it. if it was that shallow then why create a universe at all. i think it would be much more pissed about people killing in its name.
