And no, I am not saying it is all made up but rather religion is an amalgamation of many explanations-out-of-ignorance originating from many different sources for many different events, which isn't limited to only cosmological event, let alone a single event. And the pigeon experiment shows how the basis for religion and superstitious thinking is within our very nature and can be seen as an artefact of evolution itself.

So, your saying the sympathetic magic is the root of religion and not the impetus that brought on the response?   Reminds me of a joke : Three little boys are sitting on the curb and a genii appears and asks each kid what they want for a wish.  The 1st boy says "I want to be gold all over."  The genii asks why do you want to be gold all over?  And he replys, "because if I were gold I'd own that gold Cadillac right there.  The 2nd boy says he wants to be silver because he would own the silver Lincoln on the other side of the kids.  The 3rd one says "I want to be hairy all over."  And the genii asks why.  He responds " Because my sister has a little patch down here and she owns both of those cars!"  So, the John is left out of the game, eh?
